About The Trips
- How fit must I be?
- Our trips are rated as For All Abilities, Moderate, and More Difficult. Trips rated "For All Abilities" are designed to accommodate participants of varying ability levels. We have three route options each day — short, medium, and long — and don't always travel in one big group. That gives you the ability to choose how far you want to go and at what speed. Most trips also have a support vehicle, offering a quick snack or a shuttle when needed.
- Trips rated Moderate and More Difficult have some portions without an easy option. However, anyone in moderate physical condition will usually do fine on our trips. Please see the individual trip descriptions for difficulty ratings.
- Should I prepare in advance?
- Even if you are not regularly working out, you will enjoy most of our trips. However, you will likely enjoy our trips more if you are in good physical condition prior to the trip. Any form of aerobic exercise (running, tennis, biking, etc) that you do several times per week will benefit you.
- Can I sign up alone?
- A large percentage of our trip participants sign up entirely on their own. In fact, coming by yourself and meeting other Trip Equinox travelers is one of the greatest parts of the experience. Our guides are trained to make everyone feel welcome and part of the group.
- If you are a solo traveler, we will never require you to pay a single supplement. We will automatically pair you with another solo traveler to take advantage of our Double Occupancy trip pricing. If we cannot match you with another solo traveler, we will give you a single room for the Double Occupancy rate. If you wish to book your own room, you can do so by paying the Single Occupancy pricing.
- Will I receive a pre-departure packet?
- Upon booking your trip, you will receive a comprehensive Pre-Departure Packet of information. This packet will contain information on packing, arrivals and departures, weather, money, visa requirements, and more.
- If you have any questions prior to booking, please call or email us directly.
- Who travels with Trip Equinox?
- Our trips are mostly comprised of Equinox Fitness club members. However, anyone is welcome to join our trips.
- Our group sizes range from 12 to 25 people, depending on the individual trip location. Participants range in age from 8 to 80, with most in the range of upper 20's to upper 50's. Groups are fairly evenly split among males and females and are comprised of solo travelers, couples, and families.
- Are children welcome on our trips?
- Children and families are very welcome on our trips. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We do not have a minimum age requirement for our trips. Instead, we rely on you to judge the physical and emotional maturity of your child. We will be happy to discuss this with you individually.
- Any child under the age of 16 will receive a 25% discount when accompanied by two full-paying trip participants staying in the same room.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance, which will compensate you for the costs of airfare and the trip itself should unforseen circumstances arise. Each year, many travelers cancel their vacations at the last moment and forfeit both the cost of their trip and airfare. Comprehensive travel insurance will reimburse you for these costs.
For information about Trip Cancellation Insurance, please contact insurance companies directly. One company that we recommend with confidence is Travel Guard International (800-826-1300). Tell them you are traveling with Trip Equinox. However, if you will be traveling outside your home country, you should also check to make sure your health insurance covers you while on an active tour abroad.
Registration and Cancellations
Registering for an trip requires a $500 deposit payable by check or any major credit card. The remaining amount is due 60 days prior to the trip departure and is payable by check or credit card. If you sign up for a trip 60 days or less before the departure date, the entire trip price must be paid by credit card.
If you cancel your reservation with 45 days or more advance notice, you can apply all payments made to another trip in the same calendar year or the year following. If you cancel with 44 or fewer days advance notice you forfeit all payments made. Unfortunately we cannot make exceptions; our tours are often full and a late cancellation usually means we have lost the opportunity to give your spot to someone else. We reserve the right to cancel any trip or to make changes in the itineraries, however, once our season begins we rarely cancel trips.
